About the rghmc

Formed in the fall of 2015, the Ruffed Grouse Habitat Mangement Cooperative is one of the largest landowner cooperatives in the state by acrerage.   The first official meeting was held on October 10th 2015.  Over 80 landowners, MDC staff, and QUWF representitves attended.  A hearty meal was provided and the cooperative was officially off to an outstanding start.

The cooperative is within a geographic area known as the Missouri River Hills Conservation Oportunity Area.  Within this area are two grouse habitat focus areas (East and West) containing over 90,000 acres; within these areas there are three MDC conservation areas totaling over 6,000 acres.

With the support of The Missouri Department of Conservation and The Quail and Upland Wildlife Fedaration, the cooperative has the expertise and funding to accomplish its goals.

At this time no fees or annual dues are required for membership.  If you are a landowner within the cooperative area and want to become a member, please contact us.

The best way to support this cooperative is to vote pro-conservation, join the Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation, and attend the annual Missouri Grouse Chapter fund raising banquet held in early March (see calendar of events).

The Missouri Department of Conservation is one of the most admired wildlife agencies in the country.

The annual budget of Missouri's conservation department equals less than 1% of the total state of Missouri governmental budget.  The Department of Conservation receives no general revenue from the state budget.

The conservation sales tax more than pays for itself. The .125% of 1% tax returns almost five times the dollars in state and local taxes alone. In addition, it helps creates Missouri jobs and generate billions of dollars in revenue for local businesses.

The Quail & Upland Wildlife Federation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.  QUWF is dedictated to seeing that funds raised at banquets are put to use for local habitat restoration projects.
